SHERELLE R. WILLIAMS

SHERELLE R. WILLIAMS, MFA, PhD, is a producer, cinematographer, editor, and educator, teaching courses in mass communication, media studies, and the areas of television, video, and film production. Her research interests focus on representations of African American women in film and television, and the history of African Americans in the media. Creatively, she has served as producer, cinematographer, and editor on documentaries, industrials, short films, commercials and PSA's. She is an Associate Professor of Mass Communications at Prince George’s Community College (Largo, MD), and an adjunct professor at Bowie State University (Bowie, MD). She formerly worked as Regional Producer/Director with Comcast and currently serves as VP of Production at Prosperity Media, Inc. (a non-profit media arts organization), and President/Senior Producer of Koalaty Entertainment. Williams earned a PhD in mass communication and media studies and an MFA in film, both from Howard University, and a BA in broadcasting from the University of Alabama.

CHERYL LEWIS HAWKINS

CHERYL LEWIS HAWKINS - Producer/Director/Writer

For over 25 years, Cheryl Lewis Hawkins, a native of Alexandria, Virginia, has worked in the Washington Metropolitan area winning awards and recognition for outstanding work in theatre, television, radio and film. She is the Founder, President and CEO of the nonprofit organization, Prosperity Media Enterprise, Inc. Founded in 1998, the organization produces films and video productions and provides media access, training, production,

distribution and consulting services to underrepresented individuals and other nonprofit organizations. The company serves clients in public and private industries.

Ms. Hawkins is host of UDC Books, an educational television show where she has interviewed over 200 authors. She holds an MA in Communications, Public Affairs/Broadcast Journalism from American University and a BA in Mass Media Arts from the University of the District of Columbia. She also has earned certificates from the Hollywood Film Institute in film directing and producing and a diploma from the National Conservatory for Dramatic Arts in performance and stage management.
